Alfredo 'Fredo' Oliveira (he/him) is originally from Brazil. He became a United States citizen in 2019. Oliveira arrived in Minnesota through Rotary International Youth Exchange Program in 2006, which allowed him to understand not only the challenges and barriers that international students experience but also the advantages of receiving an extraordinary education and learning a new culture.

Currently, he is the Program Manager for the Honors Global Communities and Instructor for HGLO 100 at the University of Maryland. He worked at New York University from 2019 to 2023 and the University of South Florida from 2016 to 2019. Alfredo has earned a Master of Arts in Politics from New York University and a Master of Science in Higher Education Administration from St. Cloud State University.

In 2013, Oliveira moved to Washington, D.C. from Minnesota for his summer internship with U.S. Senator Al Franken. In summer of 2014, Alfredo went back to Washington, D.C. to be the Government Affairs summer intern for the Human Rights Campaign, the largest non-profit LGBT organization in the nation. Oliveira is a former member of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Board of Trustees, where he served two terms.

His long-term goals are to teach college courses and be a university president. He enjoys going to Walt Disney World, traveling, reading, taking pictures, running, and going for walks with his dog, Scooby Doo, in his free time.
